It can make things seem pretty absurd. For example:<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/behavioral-specialist-demonstrates-gentle-parenting-vs-permissive-parenting\" target=\"_self\"><u>Gentle parenting<\/u><\/a> has been the anxious millennial antidote to the trauma caused by their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/boomers\" target=\"_self\"><u>boomer parent<\/u><\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"\/millennials-talk-about-gramnesia-ex1\" target=\"_self\"><u>not-so-gentle approach<\/u><\/a> to raising kids. Instead say, \u2018What\u2019s your plan here?\u2019\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cI don\u2019t even know my plan! Do you know your plan?!\u201d Sandy retorts.<\/p><p>Cut to: Sandy says \u201cStop. Don\u2019t hit your sister.\u201d Suddenly Taylor pops up from behind a corner to instruct: \u201cDon\u2019t say, \u2018Stop,\u2019 say, \u2018Gentle.\u2019\u201d<\/p><p>\u201c\u2018Gentle\u2019\u2026what?\u201d asks a confused Sandy.<\/p><p>\u201c\u2018Gentle hands,\u2019\u201d quips Taylor, adding. \u201c\u2018Gentle\u2019 everything.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"shortcode-media shortcode-media-rebelmouse-image\">        <figure class=\"rkv-rebelmouse\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/good-worldwide.go-vip.net\/qa-upworthy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/09\/origin-34790.png\" alt=\"gentle parenting, parenting advice, parenting, parenting hacks, Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, mothers, daughters\" \/><figcaption>An adult woman and her older mother Image via Canva<\/figcaption><\/figure>                        <\/p><p>Sandy can\u2019t even catch a break when she says \u201cI\u2019m so proud of you.\u201d because, as Taylor explains, \u201cyou\u2019re not supposed to tell kids you\u2019re proud of them anymore. That\u2019s putting the focus on you.\u201d<br \/><\/p><p>Then a classic comedy of errors ensues as Taylor advises Sandy to say \u201cyou should be so proud\u201d and Sandy replies \u201cI AM so proud!\u201d<\/p><p>Viewers could help but laugh at their own perhaps overzealous attempts to bring gentle parenting into their life.<\/p><p>\u201cI tried to gentle parent this morning but it turned into \u2018OMG GET YOUR FORKING SHOES ON,\u201d\u201d one person wrote, while another added, \u201cI always started with the Mary Poppins approach but sometimes you need to elevate to Judge Judy.\u201d<\/p><p>Others felt like this perfectly depicted how gentle parenting sometimes misses the mark.<\/p><p>\u201cI\u2019m feeling anxious after observing gentle parenting,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p><p>Another simply said, \u201cI stand with grandma.\u201d<\/p><p>This isn\u2019t the first time Taylor and Sandy have given us a good chuckle comparing their different parenting styles.
