Specifically, I&#8217;m talking about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/tag\/gen-z\" target=\"_self\"><u>Gen Z,<\/u><\/a> the age group known for their brutal TikTok roasts (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/tag\/gen-z-vs-millennials\" target=\"_self\"><u>mostly of millennials<\/u><\/a>) and their attitude towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/tag\/work\" target=\"_self\"><u>workplace<\/u><\/a> professionalism that\u2019s just a tad, shall we say, more <em>casual<\/em> than previous generations. While this attitude might be jarring at times, it also can be delightfully refreshing.<\/p><p><strong>Just ask the company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@oilshore\/video\/7153912935746768130\" target=\"_blank\">Oilshore<\/a>, which shared the hilarious \u201cout of office\u201d messages created by its Gen Z employees.<\/strong><\/p><p>Whether they chose a clever, tongue-in-cheek approach, like \u201c<em><em>On vacation. As a millennial I be scared to be off of work,\u201d one wrote.<\/p><p>Another added, \u201cI wish I had this direct attitude but my millennial self would never be able to do that.\u201d<\/p><p>Yet another praised these workers, saying, \u201cXennial here thinking Gen Z\u2019s doing all the things I\u2019ve dreamt of doing. Kings and queens changing work culture.\u201d<\/p><p>Indeed, while Gen Zers might often get labeled as lazy or entitled, they are inspiring some pretty positive disruption. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.stanford.edu\/report\/2024\/02\/14\/8-things-expect-gen-z-coworker\/#:~:text=Gen%20Z%20cares%20about%20mental,than%20work%2C%E2%80%9D%20Katz%20said.\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Stanford Report<\/u><\/a>, this generation prioritizes collaboration, mental health and work-life balance, transparency, and social impact and are demanding to see these types of changes in the workforce. But there are other factors at play, like coming of age in the wake of a historic pandemic and the worldwide threat of climate change, as well as unprecedented digital connectivity that make all these events more visible, which undoubtedly influence their relentlessness in getting these needs met.<\/p><p>And thank goodness for that relentlessness, because it makes work a better place to be\u2014in more ways than one. Luckily, more and more companies are getting on board with the Gen Z way of doing things.
