As we know, baby name<\/u><\/a> trends are constantly changing. One generation\u2019s Barbara is another generation\u2019s<\/a> Bethany. But it doesn\u2019t make it any less odd when you suddenly realize that your very own name has suddenly made it into the \u201cold and unhip\u201d pile. And for many of us 80s babies<\/u><\/a>\u2026that time is now.<\/p>

In a now-viral TikTok post<\/u><\/a>, baby<\/u><\/a> name consultant Colleen Slagen<\/u><\/a> went through the top 100 girl names from 1986 to find which ones \u201cdid not age well\u201d and were no longer ranked top 1,000 today. Such a descent from popularity would mark them as what she calls \u201ctimestamp names.\u201d Spoiler alert: what might be even more surprising than the names now considered old school are the names that are still going strong.<\/p>

The first name that Slagen says is \u201cofficially out\u201d is Heather. That\u2019s right, not even cult movie fame could help it keep its ranking.<\/p>

Other extinct names include Erica, Courtney, Lindsay, Tara, Crystal, Shannon, Brandy and Dana. Tiffany, Brittany and Casey are also heading very much in that direction.<\/p>

\u201cMy name is Brandy. The Gen Z hostess at Olive Garden told me that she\u2019d never heard my name before and it was so unique,\u201d one viewer wrote.<\/p>

However, Andrea ranks \u201csurprisingly high,\u201d and Jessica, Ashley and Stephanie have survived\u2026so far.<\/p>

Gobsmacked, one person asked \u201cHow is Stephanie still in there? I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve met a Stephanie younger than myself at 34.\u201d<\/p>

But the biggest holdout still belongs to Jennifer. \u201cShe was a top 100 name all the way up until 2008. Round of applause for Jennifer,\u201d Slagen says in the clip.<\/p>\n
